Former Ricoh, VMware and Class marketing chief joins Known as director of marketing

Australian messaging solutions provider, Known, has brought on experienced marketing leader, Tori Starkey, as its new director of marketing.

Starkey joined the company’s leadership team this week and takes on the responsibility of propelling Known’s growth strategy. She brings with her more than 20 years’ experience across well-known Australian brands including Telstra and the Commonwealth Bank.

During her time at VMware, Starkey was recognised on the CMO50 2017 list of Australia’s most innovative and effective marketing leaders. In addition, she holds a number of advisory positions including WYDA education and Women in AI.

Starkey’s appointment at Known follows the recent hiring of director of product, Simon Mainwaring, and director of people and culture, Anna Volkova.

“It’s an exciting time to join the company as we continue international expansion and new ways to bring the future of messaging to life – creating highly personalised experiences and real outcomes for our customers,” Starkey said.

Known was established initially in 2004 as a digital agency in Sydney, Australia by CEO and co-founder, Alex Macpherson, with Brad Down. The pair then founded BeamMe in 2007 as a platform, which led to creating an SMS testing tool that is now one of Known’s flagship offerings, Burst SMS. Today, Known provides messaging solutions to business under the Burst SMS and Conversr brands.

“The new appointments will position Known well to deliver on our global growth aspirations, enhance our market-leading solutions and innovative customer outcomes “Macpherson commented.
