Early Settler retailer gets new GM marketing and customer

Former Amplifon Australia marketing director joins the Australian furniture brand in newly created role

Former Amplifon and 13cabs marketing leader, Liz Attia, has joined the Early Settler furniture retail brand as its first general manager of marketing and customer.

Reporting to CEO, Craig McKeown, the newly created role sees Attia tasked with broaden the brand’s appeal to a wider market. The 30-year-old business sells furniture for across the home and has 50 stores nationally.

“What attracted me to the position first and foremost was the engrained and evident focus on people and culture,” Attia told CMO.

“Throughout my marketing career, I have been fortunate to be part of the launch or transformation of some iconic brands. This was a great opportunity to work with another iconic brand that truly understands the importance of investing in the right areas to remain relevant and propel the brand into future growth starting from the inside out and putting the customer at the centre of everything.”

Attia noted Early Settler had a distinct and desirable product and a “very strong loyal customer base”. But it’s equally clear there is opportunity to broaden the retailer's appeal to a much wider market.

“Being a part of this the brand evolution is really exciting,” she continued. “There are lots of exciting things on the horizon that are in the pipeline to propel the brand into the future.

“The main focus over the next few months is to partner with the best teams in the industry, build a strong team to help pave the future of the brand by shaping our brand story combined and delivering great product that is unique to Early Settler.”

Attia spent the last two-and-a-half-years working as marketing director for hearing technology provider, Amplifon, where she helped launched the fresh brand in the Australian market. This saw her striking new commercial partnerships, developing booking tools and rapidly accelerate brand awareness through a combination of marketing smarts and customer research.

Prior to this, Attia spent just over two years with 13cabs as head of marketing, overseeing partnerships, local marketing, creative and communications strategy and marketing. Her resume also includes stints as head of marketing for Specsavers Australia and New Zealand, national brand manager for Mattel and national marketing manager at Red Rooster.

Marketing prowess versus the enigma of the metaverse

Flash back to the classic film, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Television-obsessed Mike insists on becoming the first person to be ‘sent by Wonkavision’, dematerialising on one end, pixel by pixel, and materialising in another space. His cinematic dreams are realised thanks to rash decisions as he is shrunken down to fit the digital universe, followed by a trip to the taffy puller to return to normal size.

More than money talks in sports sponsorship

As a nation united by sport, brands are beginning to learn money alone won’t talk without aligned values and action. If recent events with major leagues and their players have shown us anything, it’s the next generation of athletes are standing by what they believe in – and they won’t let their values be superseded by money.
